Sunday Funday Calls for Some Art, Perfectly Punctuated with a Performance of Camp David

Pulitzer Prize-winner, Lawrence Wright, who authored of God Save Texas and The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11, offers a behind-the-scenes look at a historical moment whose legacy continues to resonate 41 years later. Don’t miss the chance to see it all unfold during the performance of Camp David on Sunday, February 16th!

In the tumultuous 1970s, Middle East peace seemed nearly as impossible as it does today. Yet during 13 days in 1978, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, with the powerful help of U.S. President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter, hammered out an agreement that inspired the entire world. Wright’s play delivers a tremendously human look at both the hope and the cost of that historic moment.

The Washington Post says, “It’s not just reciting history or framing the debate; it’s also showing us how to understand why intractable adversaries might have lowered their guards, gazed at their bitterest enemy and begun to conceive of a way forward.”

An hour before the show a member of the artistic staff will lead a discussion with the production’s creative team to give audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the design process. These pre-show talks will offer audiences an exclusive opportunity to ask questions about the designer’s work and learn how they brought the script to life. Guests can attend Designer Talks in the Texas Room before showtime.

Camp David will play at Alley Theatre from February 16 to March 15. Tickets are $59 and are available for purchase at www.alleytheatre.org and the Alley Theatre Box Office. For additional information, please call 713-220-5700.
